A 19-year-old man lost his wallet and his car during a carjacking early Saturday in Simi Valley.

The theft occurred at 12:19 a.m. at a convenience store in the 1800 block of Cochran Street. A man pointed a chrome handgun at Vince Chairenza of Simi Valley as he talked on a pay phone and demanded his wallet, Simi Valley Police Sgt. John McGinty said.

The carjacker then went for Chairenza’s 1990 Ford Mustang, which had been left running nearby.
