Supervisors OK Reward in Freeway Attacks

Concerned that someone could be seriously hurt if the incidents continue, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved posting a $10,000 reward Tuesday for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for a rash of window-shattering attacks on freeways.

The California Highway Patrol still has no suspects in more than 50 random incidents over the past several weeks where the rear window of vehicles were broken by an unknown object, possibly from a BB gun, pellet gun or high-powered slingshot.

“It is very important that we stop this and stop this now,” said Supervisor Yvonne Brathwaite Burke. “It’s just a matter of time [before] somebody is seriously hurt.”

Burke urged drivers to keep their eyes out for any suspicious activity and report any information they may have on the freeway attacks to law enforcement agencies.
