Quartz Hill Pulls Out Win
Jacob Waasdorp ran up the middle for a 24-yard touchdown with 2 minutes 3 seconds remaining to give Quartz Hill a 28-21 victory over Saugus in a nonleague game Friday night.
Jeremiah Harris, who gained 80 yards in 19 carries, scored the two-point conversion on the final touchdown.
Waasdorp, who gained 112 yards and two touchdowns in nine carries, also scored on a 54-yard run earlier in the game.
After Quartz Hill (2-2) took a 20-7 lead in the second quarter, Saugus (1-3) came back.
Saugus scored a touchdown in the second quarter and took a 21-20 lead in the fourth quarter on Mark Pecaro’s 11-yard touchdown run.
Pecaro gained 80 yards in 19 carries. Gregg Johnson caught eight passes for 126 yards for Saugus.
Saugus starting quarterback Chris Kobe was injured in the last play of the first half.
He completed six of seven passes for 96 yards and a touchdown and was replaced in the second half by Travis Ivey, who was six for eight for 46 yards.
