Group Offers Series of Quake-Help Lectures
Proving it’s never to late to assist victims of the Northridge earthquake, a San Fernando Valley consumer group has organized a series of workshops to help homeowners whose lives are still disrupted.
Community Assisting Recovery or CARe is a private, nonprofit organization with about 40 members. The group, which has helped homeowners settle quake claims against insurance companies, is currently presenting lectures twice a week on topics such as evaluating a claims adjuster, understanding earthquake damage and the do’s and don’ts of picking a contractor.
The lectures, which include question-and-answer periods, are free to the public. They will be held at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday through Oct. 29. The location is 11145 Tampa Ave, Suite 19B in Northridge.
