‘Typed Note Bandit’ Suspected in Robbery
A robber made off with an undetermined amount of cash after holding up a teller at the Wells Fargo Bank at 140 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. on Tuesday morning.
FBI investigators believe that the robber is the “Typed Note Bandit,” who has robbed four other banks this year in Ventura County.
“He’s done 30 additional robberies in Southern California in the past two years,” FBI Special Agent Gary Auer said.
The robber, described as a 6-feet-tall, clean-shaven white male wearing blue jeans, a white shirt and black Anaheim Mighty Ducks baseball cap, entered the Thousand Oaks bank about 10:45 a.m. and handed a note to a teller that said he had a gun and demanded money.
However, no weapon was seen, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Frank O’Hanlon said.
After taking cash from the teller, the man fled out the bank’s rear entrance, disappearing into a parking lot below the Ventura Freeway.
No one was injured during the incident.
Authorities, aided by a Sheriff’s Department helicopter, combed the area near Thousand Oaks Boulevard and Moorpark Road in search of the robber, but he remained at large Tuesday afternoon.
