Wyoming Gets 10th Consecutive Victory, 42-28

Josh Wallwork passed for 319 yards and four touchdowns Saturday to lead No. 24 Wyoming to a 42-28 victory over Western Michigan at Laramie, Wyo.

The Cowboys extended their winning streak 10 games, longest in the nation.

Wyoming, 7-0 overall, gained 619 yards--228 rushing and 391 passing--and controlled the ball for 33 minutes. Western Michigan (0-7) gained 558 yards but was penalized 13 times for 113 yards.

The Broncos threatened several times late in the game and scored a touchdown with 31 seconds remaining.

No. 19 Brigham Young 63, Nevada Las Vegas 28--A rejuvenated Steve Sarkisian, throwing for four touchdowns and running for another, led the Cougars (6-1) at Provo, Utah.

Sarkisian, held without a scoring pass the first time this season in BYU’s 45-17 victory over Utah State last week, threw all of his touchdown strikes in the first half. He finished 22 for 35 for 400 yards.

Freshman Ronney Jenkins caught two of Sarkisian’s touchdown passes against UNLV (0-7), which entered the game rated last in four NCAA defensive categories.

Tulsa 20, Colorado St. 14--Defensive back Brian Self made two interceptions and Reggie Williams rushed for 106 yards for the Golden Hurricane (3-2, 1-1) at Tulsa.

Tulsa’s defense held quarterback Moses Moreno to 137 yards passing and made three interceptions, two of which led to touchdowns.

Williams moved steadily up the middle and John Fitzgerald completed 19 of 31 passes to put Charlie Higgins in position for short touchdown runs in the second quarter.

Colorado State fell to 3-4, 2-1.

Texas Christian 18, Texas-El Paso 0--Fred Taylor, making his first start at quarterback, guided the Horned Frogs (2-3, 1-1) at Fort Worth.

Taylor capped a 92-yard drive with a four-yard keeper in the first half for the only touchdown of the game as the Frogs recorded their first ever conference victory.

UTEP dropped to 2-4, 0-3.

Navy 20, Air Force 17--Tom Vanderhorst kicked a 25-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining for Navy (4-1) at Air Force (3-2).

Vanderhorst’s second field goal of the game was set up by Omar Nelson’s 51-yard run, which came one play after Air Force tied the score, 17-17, on a 49-yard field goal by Dallas Thompson with 2:11 left.

Fresno St. 28, San Jose St. 18--Jim Arellanes completed 21 of 29 passes for 356 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (2-3, 2-1) at Fresno.

Brian Roberson had nine receptions for 204 yards and two touchdowns and Michael Gray added 75 yards rushing and one touchdown for Fresno State.

San Jose State is 1-6, 1-3.
