SAN FRANCISCO (4-1) at GREEN BAY (5-1)

Channel 7, 6 p.m.

Cheeseheads will be stoked and the Packers will be flying into the stands en masse. Only one thing missing from this game: Steve Young. But the 49ers will find out in a hurry if their quarterback of the future can play with the big boys. Elvis Grbac has been troubled by a bad back, but he has been practicing and Young (groin) has not. Brett Favre is on record pace to break Dan Marino’s mark of 48 touchdown passes in a season.

Say what: Despite all the problems at quarterback, running back and even with Jerry Rice, whose numbers are off, the 49er offense ranks fifth in rushing in the NFL, third in passing and third overall. When they have the ball they hog it, and they usually score. The 49ers are the only team not to lose a fumble.

Player to watch: Packer wide receiver Antonio Freeman. The 49ers might figure out how to stop Robert Brooks, Keith Jackson, Mark Chumura and Edgar Bennett, but then who takes Freeman? Marquez Pope? Get ready in the stands to catch a leaping Freeman.

Finally: The Packers are averaging a San Francisco-like 34 points a game.
