Pat McNallen recovered a Garden Grove fumble with 49 seconds left and the Argonauts threatening to score, preserving Bolsa Grande’s 21-20 victory in a Garden Grove League game Friday.

The Matadors (3-3, 1-2) led, 13-7, at the intermission, but Garden Grove (0-6, 0-2) came back in the third quarter with touchdown runs of 10 and one yards by Jason Bruce to take a 20-13 lead entering the final quarter. Bolsa Grande then took advantage of a couple of Garden Grove gifts to regain the lead.

Sam Baeder intercepted a Faustino Campa pass at the Argonaut 35. Bruce intercepted a Doug Baughman pass on the next play from scrimmage, but was called for pass interference, giving Bolsa Grande a first down at the 20.
