1 Killed, 2 Injured in Head-On Collision
A Woodland Hills man was killed in a head-on collision while trying to pass a vehicle on California 126 between Fillmore and Piru.
The accident occurred at 9:42 p.m. Friday near Howe Road when 26-year-old Jian Wu, who had been heading east, pulled into the westbound lane and collided with a vehicle driven by Bryan Hickstien, 22, of Nevada.
The accident closed the westbound lanes of Highway 126 for more than an hour, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Wu was taken to Santa Paula Memorial Hospital, where an hour later he was pronounced dead of massive head injuries.
Hickstien was admitted to Ventura County Medical Center with a broken breast bone and other injuries. He was listed in fair condition Saturday afternoon.
A juvenile passenger in Hickstien’s vehicle was also taken to Ventura County Medical Center with minor injuries, authorities said.
His name was not released because of his age.
