Man Dies After Fall From Roof of Car

A Reseda man who authorities believe was standing on the roof of a stopped car died early Sunday morning after falling from the vehicle, police said.

Kevin Anderson, 29, apparently climbed through the sunroof of a Volkswagen Jetta and fell onto the asphalt, said Sgt. Ron Leanderts of the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division.

Anderson “fell from the top of the car and cracked his head open,” Leanderts he said. “He landed on the asphalt.”

The car, carrying a driver and three other passengers, was stopped in a northbound lane of Westpark Drive near Morrison Street at the time of the 2:05 a.m. accident, said Officer Bill Mulvihill, who added that the police are uncertain why Anderson fell.

Coroner’s officials say investigators believe the victim may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident.

Officers said the car’s occupants were reluctant to talk about the accident, and there were no other witnesses. The incident remains under investigation.
