Dodger center fielder Brett Butler’s heart tells him to come back, but his body isn’t cooperating.
“If my body feels like it has the last five or six days, no way,” Butler said. “If I can’t play, what’s the point of coming back? But I began to work out today for the first day, so we’ll see.
“If we had an Andruw Jones in center field, it would be easy for me to walk away. I have nothing more to prove. But I still think I can help.”
Butler, who threw out the ceremonial first pitch Tuesday night, said that his family once again voted in favor of his return for another season. The only one opposed was his 9-year-old son, Blake.
