There’s no hiding Stan Humphries’ latest injury.

Not long after shaving off the goatee that covered his gashed chin, the San Diego Chargers’ quarterback dislocated his non-throwing shoulder and will sit out Sunday’s game against the Seahawks at Seattle.

The injury came courtesy of 320-pound Oakland tackle Chester McGlockton, who stuck his helmet into Humphries’ shoulder as the quarterback slid at the end of a five-yard run in the first quarter of the Raiders’ 23-14 victory Monday night.

Sean Salisbury will make his first start since the 1994 season finale, when he was with the Minnesota Vikings.

With a home game against the Jacksonville Jaguars only five days away, Cincinnati Bengal Coach Bruce Coslet had not even spoken to the team by Tuesday. Players had two days off after returning from a 28-21 loss at San Francisco.

“I’ve just started the process of telling them what I think needs to be done,” Coslet said Tuesday. “So far, so good. They’ve been receptive. We’ll see how that portrays on the field.

“I’m like the fans out there--I’m a little skeptical right now. And they have a reason to be, and so do I. Nobody’s comfortable. It’s just a major change and it’s going to be a difficult time for the next several weeks.”

Apparently. As reporters were escorted to Coslet’s office for an interview Tuesday, two assistant coaches got into a fight in an office down the hall. Other coaches came running to break it up.

“Hey, it’s a stressful time for everybody,” Coslet said.

The Indianapolis Colts announced that arthroscopic surgery on running back Zack Crockett’s right knee to repair cartilage damage determined he had also sustained ligament damage. He will sit out the remainder of the season.
