Sabol Scores Three Touchdowns for Kennedy
Garrett Sabol lay stretched on the bench, his right knee heavily wrapped.
Sabol had scored on an eight-yard run with 6 minutes 45 seconds remaining in the third quarter to give Kennedy a 21-point lead. The Fighting Irish went on to defeat Katella, 28-13, in an Empire League game Friday night at Western High.
Sabol was hit entering the end zone and forced to leave the game.
Before the injury, Sabol scored three touchdowns and rushed for 126 yards in 15 carries. According to Kennedy assistant John Selbe, the nature of Sabol’s injury will be determined next week.
Kennedy took the opening kickoff and went 69 yards with Sabol scoring from four yards out for an 8-0 lead.
Sabol scored again on a three-yard run with 5:16 left in the second quarter as the Fighting Irish (6-1, 2-0) went ahead, 13-0.
Sabol rushed for 107 yards in 13 first-half carries. He also caught two passes for 83 yards.
With 39 seconds left in the first half, Tom Hass scored on a 19-yard run to give Kennedy a 22-0 lead.
Katella (2-5, 0-2), which has lost five in a row, finally scored in the second half, driving 73 yards on eight plays. Francis Johnson scored from six yards.
