Photos Trace Growth of Conejo Valley

Share

Long known as the informal chronicler of Thousand Oaks, past and present, photographer Ed Lawrence will present a photographic retrospective of the Conejo Valley on Nov. 10 at the Stagecoach Museum. Sponsored by the Conejo Valley Historical Society, the one-day show is called “From Ranches to Residences.” Entry is $2 for adults, $1 for senior citizens and $1 for children.

A resident of the area since 1953, Lawrence has photographed the Conejo Valley since before Thousand Oaks was a city. He recorded images of cattle ranching, sheep farming and rodeos.

As Hollywood studios moved into Thousand Oaks, setting their westerns in the rugged mountains and wide open plateaus, Lawrence was there to record the filmmakers at work.
