Tip Leads to Arrest of Man on Drug Charges

Acting on an anonymous tip, sheriff’s deputies and police from Oxnard and Port Hueneme arrested an Oxnard man Monday on suspicion of selling cocaine and heroin.

Victor Torvar Ramos, 35, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. in a parking lot at Saviers and Pleasant Valley roads. Authorities had obtained warrants to search his person, car and residence.

After searching Ramos’ north Oxnard apartment, in the 900 block of West Gonzales Road, authorities found 12 packets of heroin and four packets of cocaine inside a briefcase.

A loaded 9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol was also found in the suspect’s bedroom, authorities said. During a strip search, authorities found another two packets of heroin and three packets of cocaine in Ramos’ underwear. Authorities estimated the total street value of the drugs seized at $2,000.

Ramos was arrested on suspicion of transporting heroin and cocaine for sale, possession of cocaine and heroin for sale, and possession of a firearm while in possession of narcotics. He was booked in Ventura County Jail with bail set at $20,000.
