The city’s two new police officers, Chris Taylor and Tina Marlene Kelley, were introduced to city officials and the public at City Hall.

Police Chief David S. Barr said Taylor and Kelley have good police experience and background. “We’re extremely pleased to have them,” Barr said.

Taylor, 32, who grew up in Huntington Beach, graduated from Ocean View High and Golden West College’s Police Academy. He joined the Westminster Police Department in 1985 and won several awards, including “Officer of the Year,” before joining the La Palma department earlier this year.

Barr said Taylor is an energetic athlete who particularly likes surfing and running.

Kelley, 33, is returning home by taking the La Palma Police job, Barr said. He noted that, though she is a native of Honolulu, Kelley grew up in La Palma and graduated from Kennedy High School.

Kelley received her associate of arts degree from Fullerton College. Before coming to La Palma this year, she had worked for more than six years at the Corona Police Department.
