Hart Puts Lights Out on Burroughs, 42-14

The football seemed to hang in mid-air, an ornament in the night sky.

By the time it came down, landing in the hands of Hart High receiver Brian Pritchett, order had been restored in the Foothill League.

Pritchett’s leaping 26-yard touchdown catch put his team ahead to stay as Hart cruised to a 42-14 victory over Burroughs on Friday night at the College of the Canyons in a game stopped twice when a bank of lights went out.

“Travis [Carroll] threw where either I would catch it or no one would,” Pritchett said. “I came down with it.”

Hart (7-2, 4-0 in league) claimed a share of its sixth consecutive Foothill championship and won its 27th league game a row.

Hart opened the game by rushing 15 consecutive times, often dispensing with the handoff as Carroll ran straight ahead on quarterback sneaks.

Some 80 yards later, Todd Hourigan bulled over from one yard for a 7-0 lead.

Burroughs (7-2, 3-1) answered on its first drive, J.K. Scott connecting on four of six passes, including a two-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Cremarosa.

Then Hart stiffened. Linebacker John Harrison sacked Scott on a blitz and Pritchett made the first of his two interceptions.

Carroll, who completed 11 of 16 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns, threw his first scoring pass to Pritchett, then threw a short pass that Cody Joyce took 61 yards for a touchdown. Hart led 21-7 at halftime and picked up steam in the second half.

Scott completed 27 of 55 passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns. Joyce caught five passes for 183 yards and three touchdowns.
