Police ID Body of Slain Youth
Sheriff’s investigators on Sunday identified the body found inside a vacant building as that of 15-year-old Darrell Clay Jr. of Lancaster.
The body was discovered Saturday by a real estate agent who planned to show the property in the 43400 block of 10th Street West to a prospective buyer, said Sheriff’s Deputy Carrie Stuart. The teen had been shot several times in the upper body.
Stuart said the boy was last seen by his grandmother Nov. 5, when she dropped him off at a friend’s house in Lancaster. The boy’s grandmother reported him missing two days later, after he failed to return home.
Investigators believe the shooting was gang-related, Stuart said.
