Ricks Natural Star to Run Against Six at Los Alamitos Friday
Ricks Natural Star, a 7-year-old gelding from the $3,500 claiming ranks who finished a badly beaten last in the Breeders’ Cup Turf last month, will run against one other thoroughbred and five quarter horses in an $8,000 allowance race at Los Alamitos on Friday night.
When entries were drawn Tuesday for the 870-yard race, Daron Long, the leading rider of Arabians at the track, was named to ride Ricks Natural Star, who drew the No. 4 post position.
Others entered are Maybeintyme, Oh Le Bo, Mr Diddy Wa Diddy, Supply Sider, Ridge Woods and Score More, the other thoroughbred. Ricks Natural Star has been offered a bonus of $40,000--what it cost to run him in the Breeders’ Cup--if he wins the race.
