‘WENN,’ Skaters and ‘Preminger’ Top Menu

Specials, series premieres and movies highlight the weekend TV fare.

American Movie Classics kicks off its second season of “Remember WENN,” tonight at 6 and 10. The award-winning series is set at a Pittsburgh radio station before World War II.

Six Olympic Gold medalist figure skaters, including Oksana Baiul and Katarina Witt, compete for a share of $1 million in prize money on “The Cotton Incorporated Gold Championship,” tonight at 9 on Channel 4.

Former “Saturday Night Live” regular Phil Hartman returns to his stamping ground when he hosts “SNL,” tonight at 11:30 on Channel 4. Bush will be the musical guest.

“Preminger: Anatomy of a Filmmaker,” airing tonight at 8 on Channel 28, profiles the late director-actor Otto Preminger. Featured are interviews with colleagues and clips from his films such as “Laura” and “The Man With the Golden Arm.” Following the special, Preminger’s “Advise and Consent” and “Golden Arm” will air at 9 and 11:30 p.m.

ABC’s Sunday movie is “Dying to Be Perfect: The Ellen Hart Pena Story,” airing at 9 p.m. on Channel 7. Crystal Bernard stars in the real-life story of the struggle of the wife of Transportation Secretary Federico Pena (Esai Morales) to overcome bulimia.

Lifetime’s “Idolized, Envied & Adored: The Age of the Female Icon,” airing Sunday at 9 p.m., looks at women of the past and present whose lives evoke a single emotion or image.
