Pacific Christian Wins, to Play for Soccer Title

Pacific Christian College defeated host LeTournea on penalty kicks, 5-4, Thursday to advance to Saturday’s championship game of the 24th NCCAA National Soccer Tournament in Longview, Tex.
LeTournea led, 1-0, until Kyle Hedwall’s goal in the 53rd minute tied the score. In the 79th minute, Mike Schanzenbach gave PCC a 2-0 lead, but LeTournea tied the score on a free kick by Eric Bright with 6:43 left.
After two scoreless overtime periods before 300 fans on a cold and rainy night, the game was decided by penalty kicks. Eighth-seeded PCC (13-7-1), which defeated top-seeded Malone, 3-1, Wednesday, will play Western Baptist of Salem, Ore., for the title.
