A 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing his wife to death after he walked into the police station Saturday morning and said he hit her and she could be dead, authorities said.

Vangel Tsavukyan of Glendale walked up to the station’s front desk about 10:40 a.m. and turned himself in, said Sgt. Rick Young, a spokesman for the Glendale Police Department.

His wife, Armnue Tsavukyan, 52, had been stabbed to death earlier that morning at the couple’s house in the 300 block of Salem Street, authorities said.

About half an hour before Vangel Tsavukyan came to the station, police received a phone call from the couple’s daughter, screaming, “Someone has been killed!” Young said.

The daughter found her mother when she went to visit her parents, Young said.

Armnue Tsavukyan was found on the floor in the couple’s bedroom with numerous stab wounds.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, Young said.

“At this time the murder appears to have occurred in the early morning hours and as a result of domestic violence,” he said.

Homicide detectives were continuing the investigation late Saturday, Young said.

He said murder charges are expected to be filed Tuesday after investigators present the evidence to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Vangel Tsavukyan is being held without bail at the Glendale City Jail until his arraignment, authorities said.
