VAN NUYS — An Antelope Valley teenager, described by prosecutors as a white supremacist, was sentenced to 10 years in prison Tuesday for his role in an attack on a black student at Antelope Valley High School last year.
Joseph Langford, 18, received the sentence after pleading guilty last month to attempted murder for stabbing a fellow student with a screwdriver on his way to class in December 1995.
Langford stabbed the student four times in the back while an accomplice kicked and punched the victim, prosecutors said. Both youths apparently shouted, “White power” during the attack.
Langford’s 17-year-old accomplice has pleaded guilty to charges of assault and causing great bodily injury. He faces eight years in prison on assault and hate crime convictions. His sentencing is set for Dec. 27.
