Pulido Leads Orange Coast Past San Diego Mesa, 58-47

6Sophomore forward Dianne Pulido scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as visiting Orange Coast beat San Diego Mesa, 58-47, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Friday.

It was the 10th time in 11 games that Pulido has been the team’s leading scorer.

Traci Nakamura had 15 points for Orange Coast (9-2), which lost to San Diego Mesa twice last season, including once in the playoffs.

In another nonconference game:

Rancho Santiago 77, Palomar 17--Pauline McGee scored 27 points in a victory for Rancho Santiago. Antoinette Thompson scored 20 points for the Dons (9-1).

Rancho Santiago led, 40-3, at halftime.

In the Los Angeles Valley tournament:

Cypress 104, Citrus 49--Kelly Fleischmann scored 23 points in a consolation game for Cypress (8-4). Linda Rodriguez scored 19 points including five three-pointers for the Chargers.

Holly Pawlowski scored 18 points for Cypress.

In the Riverside tournament:

Los Angeles City 74, Irvine Valley 65--Irvine Valley led at the half, 40-27, but shot 35% in the second half and lost one semifinal game. Daryl Todd had a team-high 23 points for Irvine Valley (7-4), which plays Citrus for third place at 5 p.m.

Riverside plays Los Angeles City at 7 p.m. in the championship game.

Chaffey 83, Golden West 58--Jacy Armbruster scored 20 points and Jermaine Moore 17 for Golden West (4-6), which was eliminated. Ray Jimmerson, Golden West’s standout sophomore swing player, was held to three points. He was zero for 13 from the field, missing nine three-point attempts.

Golden West was four of 24 on three-pointers as a team.

In nonconference games:

Rancho Santiago 96, Pomona Pitzer JV 84--Lohnnie Tape made 11 of 15 shots from the field and finished with a game-high 25 points for host Rancho Santiago (7-2). Vladimir Nieto had 17 and Brian Siddons 14 for the Dons.

Cypress 78, El Camino 61--Frankie Floyd had 20 points and 11 rebounds for Cypress (3-6).
