FBI Seeks Suspect in Baldwin Park Slayings

David Alex Alvarez, suspected in the execution-style slayings of four people in Baldwin Park this fall, has been placed on the FBI’s list of 10 most wanted fugitives.

Alvarez, 29, has been seen in Mexico and Southern California since the Sept. 29 slayings, in which authorities say Alvarez and an accomplice methodically shot and stabbed three members of an extended family and a gardener who was at work in the frontyard when Alvarez arrived at the house. Three other people were wounded.

Law enforcement officials say Alvarez was acting in retaliation against his estranged wife, Patricia Garcia, and her relatives, some of whom had reportedly beaten Alvarez after he abducted Garcia in August.

Now in protective custody, Garcia was not at the house at the time of the shootings.

Two sisters, 12 and 9, were killed, along with their uncle and the gardener.

Alvarez’s alleged accomplice, Trinia Aguirre, 21, surrendered last month and is being held without bail on murder and kidnapping charges.

At a Saturday news conference announcing Alvarez’s placement on the wanted list, law enforcement officials described him as armed and extremely dangerous.

He is Latino, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He may have tattoos on his chest and right knee, as well as a tattoo with the name “Patricia” on the back of his neck.

Believed to be a member of a East Los Angeles gang called the “Avenues,” he has used the aliases David Alejandro Alvarez, Dominic Alex Alvarez, Miguel Alvarez Jr. and “Spooky.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information about Alvarez to call the FBI’s West Covina office at (818) 919-3434 or the bureau’s 24-hour hotline at (310) 477-6565. Los Angeles County and Baldwin Park officials have posted a $15,000 reward in the case.
