Matadors Routed Again, 86-38

Cal State Northridge fell to Fresno State, 86-38, in a women’s nonconference basketball game Friday night at Fresno State.

The Matadors (1-7) made only 14 of 57 shots.

Northridge was outrebounded, 55-28.

The Bulldogs (6-3) turned 24turnovers by Northridge into 35 points.

Sarah Hagman scored 12 points for Northridge. She was the only player to score more than five points for the Matadors, made only 24.6% of their shots.

Janee Young had 26 points and 16 rebounds for Fresno State. She made 16 of 17 free throws.

Jessi Farias and Zanete Law each added 11 points for the Bulldogs.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Master’s 96, Southern Oregon State 70--Forward Joclin Julmist had nine points, 10 rebounds and five steals and the Mustangs capitalized on 32 turnovers in a consolation game of the Southern California College tournament at Cal Poly Pomona.

Guard Mike Penberthy scored 30 points for Master’s (7-4), which jumped to a 53-33 halftime lead. Penberthy made 10 of 16 shots.

Sean Davis added 17 points.

Southern Oregon State is 2-11.

The Mustangs will face Western Washington today at 3 p.m. The Vikings defeated Western New Mexico, 97-69.

Rancho Santiago 70, Valley 56--Pierre Elize scored 14 points, but the Monarchs (10-4) came up short against Rancho Santiago (8-3) in the semifinals of the Crown City Classic at Pasadena City College.

Mark Saukkola and Lonnie Tape each scored 21 points for Rancho Santiago.

Antelope Valley 87, Sacramento City 72--Michael Hamelin had 18 points, six assists and six steals for the Marauders (12-3) in a second-round game of the Sequoias tournament.

Jonathan George scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Antelope Valley.

Canyons 74, Glendale 69--Curtis Wills scored 23 points, Woodley Polynice had 15 and Mike Posey added 14 for the Cougars in a semifinal game of the Glendale tournament.

Carl Biel scored 17 points for the Vaqueros (6-7).
