North Hollywood Stretches Valley Pac-8 Win Streak to 43

Stephanie Wasserman made consecutive three-point baskets with three minutes to play in North Hollywood’s 61-51 victory over Van Nuys in a Valley-Pac 8 game at North Hollywood on Friday night.

North Hollywood, ranked seventh in the Times’ regional poll, extended its conference winning streak to 43 games.

Wasserman, Lindsay Sotero-Higa and Markia Derby each made free throws in the final 1:40 to seal the victory for the Huskies (17-3, 6-0 in conference play), who trailed 46-45 before Wasserman’s heroics.

Tashean Thomas had 17 points and seven steals for the Huskies and Claudia Villa had 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Wasserman, who missed a game against Poly earlier this week with flu, had 13 points.

Grant 48, Monroe 41--Jenny Mallon had 18 points and seven steals and Nakeisha Perkins had 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Lancers (14-6, 5-1) in a Valley Pac-8 conference game at Grant.

Birmingham 49, San Fernando 36--Artesia McDaniel had 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, and Tanya Silva had 11 points and six assists for host Birmingham (9-3, 4-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference game.

Granada Hills 54, Cleveland 33--Jessica Crosby scored 28 points for the Highlanders (5-6, 2-3) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Cleveland.

Crescenta Valley 48, Glendale 33--Nine players scored for Crescenta Valley (19-2, 6-0) in a Pacific League game at Glendale.

Jackie Rhetta had 11 points for the Falcons and Michelle Greco had 10 points and 11 rebounds. Victoria Oganyan had 17 points for Glendale (11-8, 2-4).

Burroughs 73, Saugus 49--Chantel Jimenez scored 18 points for the host Indians (14-7, 5-1) in a Foothill League game.

Hart 61, Canyon 48--Melissa Harrison had 28 points and Candace Boller scored 13 points for the Indians (16-5, 6-0) in a Foothill League game at Hart.

Valerie Wiggins was high scorer for Canyon (8-10, 3-3) with 16 points.

Valencia 46, Burbank 40--Tasha Garcia grabbed an offensive rebound and scored with 1:20 to play to break a 38-38 tie and lift the Vikings (12-9, 3-3) in a Foothill League game at Valencia.

Kesha Kelso had 17 points for Valencia.

Harvard-Westlake 63, Louisville 54--Omelogo Udeze scored 18 points and Corrie Roberts had 16 for the Wolverines (16-6, 5-1), who rallied from a two-point deficit after three quarters of a Mission League game at Louisville.

Becky Witt had 18 points for Louisville (12-5, 3-3).

Nordhoff 56, Calabasas 35--Junior forward Erin Barker scored 23 points, and junior point guard Nell Becker had 19 points, nine rebounds, nine assists and six steals for the Rangers (17-3, 6-0)--ranked 10th in the region by The Times--in a Frontier League victory at home.

Moorpark 98, Malibu 19--Tracey Milburn had 23 points, 12 assists, nine rebounds and eight steals to lead the Musketeers in a Frontier League game at Malibu.

Damaris Hinojosa had 18 points, 10 rebounds and five steals, and Jenny Plante had 15 points, including three three-point shots, for Moorpark (17-2, 5-1).
