Orange Woman Dies in Freeway Collision
A 62-year-old Orange woman died Tuesday in a four-car collision on the Riverside Freeway that blocked traffic for two hours near Gypsum Canyon Road.
The woman, whose name was not released, was driving a minivan east shortly after 10 a.m. when she drifted onto the shoulder, California Highway Patrol Officer Angel Johnson said. She corrected by swerving left in front of a semitrailer truck.
The truck hit the minivan at 55 mph, sending it into the left-hand lane, where it hit a Honda, which spun out of control and hit a Chevrolet. CHP officials said all of the drivers were wearing seat belts.
The victim was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
