Fitch Won’t Say Pooh About Guard
Clipper Coach Bill Fitch declined comment after guard Pooh Richardson criticized him for yelling at him after he committed a turnover in the final minute of Tuesday’s 116-112 victory over the Boston Celtics.
Richardson, who has lost his starting job to Darrick Martin, said he feels restricted because Fitch harps on every mistake he makes.
“I don’t even feel comfortable out there,” Richardson told the Daily News. “[Fitch] is in my ear all the time. If you want me to do well, stay out of my ear.”
Richardson, who averaged 12.9 points and shot 45.2% in the first seven years of his NBA career, is averaging a career-low 7.2 points and shooting a career-worst 37.3%.
