Rebounding Woes Continue

After outrebounding the Lakers by 23 in a season-high 22-point victory on Feb. 4, the Clippers have been outrebounded in their last three games.

“We have a split personality rebounding,” Clipper Coach Bill Fitch said after Phoenix grabbed 17 more rebounds and defeated the Clippers by 17 points Friday. “Half of it wants the ball and half of it wants to get down to the other end to score.”

Although the Clippers are in position to make the playoffs for the first time since 1993, Fitch said his club can’t relax.

“When we passed some of these teams they had guys on crutches, but now they’re running like [heck] on two good legs,” Fitch said. “There’s no overconfidence, believe me.”

The Clippers, who won four of their first six road games, have lost 13 of their last 16, including their last five. They have lost seven of eight road games against Pacific Division teams and haven’t won a Pacific Division road game since beating the Golden State Warriors in their season-opener.
