City to Raise Fees on Select Programs
The city-run day camp, youth flag football, aquatics, junior lifeguard and surfing programs will soon cost more.
City Council members have approved a fee increase, saying that doing so will make programs self-supporting and bring the city in line with what other localities charge for similar programs.
Fees for youth flag football, for example, will be increased by $10 to $35 for residents, and the cost for the junior lifeguard program will be $95, an increase of $5.
Residents will be charged a $2 flat fee for the aquatics program; and surfing classes will stay at $55 for residents but will increase to $60 for nonresidents.
Day camp participants will now pay $70 for a 35-hour week and $85 for a 55-hour week, an increase of $9 and $6 respectively.
