Center Is Needed but No Help Is Expected

With the NBA trading deadline just a day away, Clipper Coach Bill Fitch said his club isn’t likely to make any deals.
The Clippers have a surplus of guards and could use a center to replace the injured Stanley Roberts and Kevin Duckworth, but no one is available.
“Our needs are very evident,” Fitch said. “We’ve got six guards and no centers. I guess it’s living proof that centers are hard to find, but I’d like think that we’re going to be able to help ourselves a little bit by picking up some help in the middle.”

As expected, the Clippers placed Duckworth on the injured list because of sore left foot and activated center Dwayne Schintzius, who has missed 37 games because of ankle, back and stomach injuries.
