Lindros Line Too Much for Senators to Handle

For a while, the Ottawa Senators made a game of it with the Philadelphia Flyers. Then the Lindros Line lowered the boom.

Flyer captain Eric Lindros had a goal and five assists in Philadelphia’s 8-5 victory Wednesday night at Kanata, Ontario.

Lindros and his linemates’ combined for 15 points, including two goals and three assists for Mikael Renberg and three goals and an assist for John LeClair.

Washington 3, Toronto 1--The Capitals made the most of the absence of the Maple Leafs’ newly traded Doug Gilmour and ended their four-game winless streak with a win at Toronto.

Calle Johansson, Dale Hunter and former Maple Leaf Craig Berube scored for Washington.

New Jersey 5, New York 3--Gilmour had a goal and three assists in his first game for the Devils, a win at Uniondale, N.Y.

Lyle Odelein, Bobby Holik, Steve Thomas and Denis Pederson also scored for the Devils.

Chicago 2, Hartford 2--Ethan Moreau scored early in the third period as the Blackhawks came from behind at Hartford.

Phoenix 5, Calgary 2--Mike Gartner scored twice to lead the Coyotes to the victory at Calgary.

Gartner scored consecutive goals late in the first period to establish a 4-1 Phoenix lead.
