Mater Dei, Brea Olinda to Host Boys’ Basketball Semifinals

Three Orange County boys’ basketball teams travel to neutral sites outside the county Tuesday for Southern Section semifinal playoff games. Two other teams will host semifinal games and still another has qualified for its divisional championship game.

Top-seeded Mater Dei (28-2) plays Antelope Valley (23-6) at Ocean View High in a Division I-A game. The Monarchs have won 18 straight.

Brea Olinda (26-3), fourth-seeded in Division II-A, puts its school-record 20-game winning streak on the line against top-seeded Lakewood Artesia (28-2) at Valencia High. Third-seeded Sonora (26-3) plays second-seeded Compton Dominguez (22-5) at Compton High.

In Division II-AA, third-seeded Villa Park (23-4) plays Compton (24-5) at Compton Dominguez High. The division’s top-seeded team, Woodbridge (25-2), which has not lost since mid-December, plays San Bernardino Pacific (20-6) at San Bernardino San Gorgonio High.

All semifinal games begin at 7:30 p.m.

Third-seeded Calvary Chapel (25-4) plays top-seeded Santa Monica Crossroads (26-3) at 6:15 p.m. Friday at the Bren Center in the Division IV-A championship game.
