Tired of Tiger? Say It Isn’t So
Coming back from the Nissan Open (I have trouble saying that, even though I like Nissans), my friends were lamenting that The Times doesn’t report golf as it should.
I am usually one to give the benefit of the doubt, but Jim Murray’s and Mike Penner’s articles of Feb. 28 didn’t help.
Stop it with Tiger already! It is likely Woods will be one of the best, but it is unfair for his exposure to be at the expense of the players and the game.

Bill Plaschke says, “[Tiger Woods] drives the ball farther than John Daly, which has pretty much eliminated Daly from our lives, which is a very good thing.”
Why is this a good thing? Daly isn’t a villain, he’s a very fine golfer. Plaschke’s comment is gratuitous and unkind.

To all you pro golfers whining about Tiger Woods, I have one word:
Jealousy.
