The list of today’s most compelling and best-selling authors is growing for the second annual Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, to be held April 19 and 20 at UCLA. Last year’s festival drew about 75,000 people.

Participating authors will include Alice Adams, Steve Allen, Rudolfo Anaya, Kirsten Bakis, John Berendt, Ray Bradbury, Jackie Collins, Michael Crichton, Chitra Divakaruni, John Gregory Dunne, Rebecca Forster, Nancy Friday, Olivia Goldsmith, Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey, Mary Higgins Clark, Roger Kahn, Dean Koontz, Frank McCourt, Czeslaw Milosz, James Redfield, Robert Scheer, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, Carolyn and Lisa See, Scott Turow, Bruce Wagner, Marianne Williamson and Garry Wills. All events are free to the public.

General programming will feature about 60 events, including author interviews and panel discussions on a wide number of topics, such as mystery, romance, race relations, New Age, biography, life in Hollywood, environmentalism, poetry, fiction, cookbooks and African American, Latin American and Asian American literature. There will also be a wide variety of children’s programming as well as publishers’ and booksellers’ booths and book signings.
