GAME OF THE WEEK

WASHINGTON AT N.Y. RANGERS

* When--Wednesday. * Time--4:30 p.m. * TV--ESPN2.

* Storyline--Winger Russ Courtnall and center Esa Tikkanen, acquired from Vancouver on Saturday, are expected to be in the Rangers’ lineup. It’s the second go-round for Tikkanen, who played on their 1994 Stanley Cup team. Look for Courtnall to provide speed the Rangers lacked since Alexei Kovalev got hurt, and for Tikkanen to be his usual pesky self. The Capitals also have a new look after getting goalie Bill Ranford, center Adam Oates and right wing Rick Tocchet from Boston. They’re 2-1 since the trade.
