Wright Given Short Lesson

Share

Clipper rookie center Lorenzen Wright didn’t have the right stuff in Friday’s 97-95 victory over the Lakers.

Unable to contain the Laker’s Campbell, Wright played only eight minutes in the first quarter before he was replaced by forward Rodney Rogers, who had 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in 37 minutes.

“It just wasn’t in the cards for rook to do anything tonight but to watch the game,” Clipper Coach Bill Fitch said. “I think we’ll get him back on track. He’ll get better the next time out.”

“It was about time he got a chance to sit down and watch and see how things are going. He probably thinks the coach was nuts for keeping him over there, but that’s the way you inspire some of those guys.

“I haven’t changed my opinion of him. I still think he’s the hardest rookie in the league.”

Fitch on the win over the Lakers: “It was a fun game for everybody in the house to watch except for Del [Harris] and I, and I think Del ended up with a better seat than I did [when he was ejected].”
