Ferraro Called Part of Future

Center Ray Ferraro’s future with the Kings appeared to receive a boost when he was not traded before Tuesday’s league deadline. With 24 goals, he leads the team and his leadership is something that has not gone unnoticed by King Coach Larry Robinson.

“I think Ray’s a big part of our future,” Robinson said. “In getting young kids, you need leadership from our veterans.”

Unless the Kings get on an incredible hot streak, they will miss the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season. Which is something left wing Kevin Stevens did not plan on at the start of the season.

In his nine-year NHL career, Stevens has missed the playoffs only twice, including last season with the Kings.

“Watching guys play [on television] is not my idea of enjoyment,” Stevens said. “The reason you play hockey is to get into the playoffs.”

Newly acquired right wing Glen Murray played his first game as a King Wednesday night and was lined with Craig Johnson and Ferraro.
