DIVISION II

Southern Section champion Laguna Hills, ranked No. 2 in the state, defeated top-ranked Brea Olinda, 40-29, last Saturday in the Southern Regional championship game to reach its first state final. Memorial will have to stop 6-6 senior center Tayyiba Haneef, who is averaging 13 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Tamara Inoue and forward Whitney Houser also are averaging in double figures. The key for the Hawks is defense. They haven’t allowed an opponent to score more than 50 points this season.

The young group will be tested by a seasoned Bishop Montgomery team that won the Division III title last year over Bear River.
