Concordia Rallies to Beat Dartmouth in Baseball, 9-7

Concordia was trailing by five runs after the first inning, but rallied to beat Dartmouth, 9-7, in baseball Wednesday at Concordia.

Ben Kindreich was three for five with a home run. Derek Patterson was two for four with two runs scored and one run batted in for Concordia (13-14).

In another nonconference baseball game:

Southern California College 15, Whitworth (Wash.) 5--The Vanguards broke open a close game, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the sixth. Kevin Moore hit three doubles, scored three runs and drove in two and Aaron Hayden had three runs scored and two RBIs for host SCC (17-8).

Donovan McReynolds allowed two earned runs, struck out five and walked two through six innings to earn the victory for SCC.

In the PONY softball invitational:

CS Fullerton 16, Georgia State 1 (5, mercy)--Dara Marzolo drove in seven runs with a home run, two doubles and a single for Cal State Fullerton (8-11). Jana Oetgen (3-5) gave up two hits and struck out four for the Titans.

In nonconference softball:

Southern California College 1-6, New Mexico Highlands 2-3--Gretchen Brandt was three for three with a run scored and pitched a complete game with six strikeouts and two walks in SCC’s 6-3 victory in Game 2.

In the first game, New Mexico Highlands defeated SCC, 2-1, despite committing five errors. Sarah Waters led SCC with two hits and one run.

In nonconference women’s tennis:

Southern California College 6, Whitman (Wash.) 3--Carin Crawford and Michele Tamplin won their singles sets and then teamed for an 8-2 victory in doubles for Southern California College (9-6). Serena Xie and Amy Tate also won in singles and doubles for SCC.

Yale 6, Cal State Fullerton 2--The Titans’ No. 1 doubles team of Debbie Vousa and Jennifer Canfield and Alejandra Arredondo in singles were the only victors for Cal State Fullerton.
