Pool play in the High Desert softball...

Pool play in the High Desert softball tournament begins today with 24 games at Lancaster City Park.

The tournament, which continues Saturday and Monday, includes Paraclete High (2-0), the ninth-ranked team in The Times’ regional top 10, and nine other teams from the region. The Spirits play Valencia at 5 p.m. and Palmdale at 9 p.m.

In 3 p.m. games today, Alemany plays Antelope Valley, Quartz Hill plays Burroughs, Palmdale faces Valencia, and Highland plays Ridgecrest Burroughs. At 5 p.m., Alemany meets Stockdale and Burroughs plays Louisville. At 7 p.m., Antelope Valley plays Stockdale and Louisville faces Quartz Hill.

College baseball: At 2 p.m., Portland at Pepperdine. At 2:30 p.m., Azusa Pacific at Master’s.

College softball: At 3 p.m., Cal State Northridge vs. Texas in Cal State Fullerton tournament.

Men’s tennis: At 1:30 p.m., Colorado at Pepperdine. At 2 p.m., Ventura at Pierce.
