UC Santa Barbara Shuts Out Cal State Fullerton in Baseball

Bryan Noyes pitched a seven-hit shutout as UC Santa Barbara defeated Cal State Fullerton, 2-0, in Big West Conference baseball Friday in Goleta.
Noyes, of Brea Olinda High, finished with five strikeouts to improve his record to 1-2.
David Willis hit a home run and scored two runs for the Gauchos (12-14).
Scott Seal, who was two for four for Cal State Fullerton (16-13), was the only Titan with more than one hit.
The Titans’ Matt Wise (1-4) pitched 7 1/3 innings and gave up five hits and struck out seven in the loss.
In another Big West Conference baseball game:
Long Beach State 13, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo 8--Chuck Lopez, who pinch hit in the sixth and remained as the DH, was two for three with three RBIs for Long Beach State (15-11). The 49ers lead the Big West South Division with a 6-1.
Long Beach State starter Rocky Biddle (4-3) gave up five earned runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings. The two teams continue the series today at San Luis Obispo Stadium.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s tennis:
Point Loma Nazarene 7, Southern California College 2--Serena Xie defeated Point Loma Nazarene’s Jamie Esperon, 6-0, 6-0.
Teammate Carin Crawford also won in singles for the Vanguards, defeating Theresa Kain, 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
Point Loma is 11-4, 5-0 in conference.
In the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation:
Brigham Young 3, Long Beach State 1--Ryan Millar had 21 kills as BYU defeated sixth-ranked Long Beach State, 15-13, 2-15, 15-4, 15-8.
Hector Lebron had 43 assists for top-ranked BYU (15-1, 10-1).
Ed Ratledge had 20 kills for Long Beach State (14-6, 9-6). Teammate Chris Seiffert had 55 assists.
