Los Alisos Intermediate School has been selected as a Distinguished School for its efforts to integrate technology in the classroom.

To qualify, Los Alisos was required to show a well-developed technology plan, a faculty and staff that were open to changes and administrative staff that encouraged using new technology and innovations in the classroom.

Los Alisos was one of 100 schools in the United States and 12 in Canada to receive the award, sponsored by Apple Computer Inc. Selected schools keep the designation for two years.

During that time, Los Alisos staff members will serve as models for other educators and will work closely with software developers to provide feedback on new educational technologies and products.

“This recognition is the end result of five years of long, hard work on the part of Los Alisos administration and staff,” Principal Jerry Ray said.

“In 1991, we basically had no technology on this campus. Today, we have more than 350 computers, a host of scanners, laser printers, video projection tools, a campus-wide network, Internet utilization and much more,” he said.
