Dehere Learns to Box Oranges

The Clippers may not have a star player, but they’ve gotten contributions from everyone this season. Guard Terry Dehere, who had been held out of three of the last six games, had seven points, two rebounds and two steals as the Clippers overcame a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Vancouver Grizzlies, 110-104, in overtime Tuesday night at the Sports Arena.

“Terry couldn’t box oranges in the first half on defense,” Coach Bill Fitch said. “I sat him down and he had a chance to think about it. I thought he did a great job filling in at the end.”

Guard Malik Sealy, the Clippers’ second leading scorer, said everyone has played a role in the team’s best season in four years.

“This year we have guys that at any given time are capable of stepping up,” Sealy said. “That’s been the interesting thing about this team. At different times different people have stepped up. Hopefully at this time of year everyone is stepping up.”
