Camarillo Big Over Littlerock

Andy Alstot took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before running out of gas in Camarillo High’s 8-3 victory over Littlerock in a Birmingham tournament game Wednesday at Notre Dame High.

Alstot (2-0) was pulled after he surrendered singles to Robbie Espinosa and Jimmy Combs with none out in the sixth. He struck out two and walked three.

Mike Bannon hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning and finished with two hits and four runs batted in for Camarillo (10-2), which is ranked No. 3 in The Times’ regional poll.

Andy Kroneberger added two hits for the Scorpions, including a triple to open the game.

Channel Islands 2, Palisades 1--Manuel Romero doubled to drive home Charles Merricks with the winning run in the fifth inning for the Raiders in a Birmingham tournament game at Granada Hills High.

Ruben Vasquez of Channel Islands (7-5) pitched a five-hitter in his second complete game of the tournament, striking out four and walking three.

Moorpark 5, Reseda 1--Tim Appleford hit a two-run single up the middle to break a 1-1 tie with one out in the ninth inning for the Musketeers in the fifth-place game of the Thousand Oaks tournament at Thousand Oaks High.

Pinch-hitter Joseph Malagon hit a two-run triple to close out the four-run ninth for Moorpark (6-5).

Senior left-hander Justin Ames pitched a six-hitter and recorded his third complete game of the season. He struck out 16 and walked two.

Quartz Hill 3, South Hills 1--Mark Madsen pitched a three-hitter and Jo’Sean Lyles had two hits and drove in a run for the Rebels (8-2) in the semifinals of the Pomona tournament at Ralph Welch Park.

Burroughs 4, Escondido 0--Tom Perez hit a two-run homer in the first inning, all the Indians (6-4) really needed in a consolation game of the San Diego Lions tournament at Escondido.

Wes Hutchison (3-1) allowed no hits through the first four innings and combined with Shane Vigil and Anthony Fabrizio for the shutout.

Santa Clara 4, St. Bonaventure 2--Michael Allen drove in two runs with a sacrifice fly and an infield out for the Saints in a nonleague victory at St. Bonaventure.

Terrance Dotsy (2-1) struck out two, walked five and allowed four hits through four innings for Santa Clara.

Newbury Park 14, Culver City 3--Jared Edrosolan pitched 6 2/3 innings and the Panthers took third place in the Blue Division at the Birmingham tournament.

Edrosolan (2-2) allowed three runs on four hits, struck out four and walked two.

Jon Spencer hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning for Newbury Park (8-6).

Mary Star 5, St. Genevieve 0--Nick Reker (1-1) scattered eight hits, allowed one walk and struck out six but the Valiants (4-5, 1-1 in league play) lost a Santa Fe League game at Mary Star.

Mark DiLeva hit a three-run home run and Juan Augello added a two-run blast for the Stars (4-2, 2-0).

Thacher 16, Ojai Valley 1--Peter Holmes pitched a two-hitter for the Toads (1-0), striking out three in a Condor League game at Ojai Valley.

Holmes had four hits and two RBIs.

Ojai Valley committed seven errors, helping Thacher to 10 score runs in the first three innings.

The game was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.
