Manager Terry Collins wasn’t looking to accomplish much in the Angels’ split-squad game against an all-star team of Angel minor leaguers in Lake Elsinore.

“Just trying to get out of here in one piece,” Collins said. “We don’t seem to get out of anywhere in one piece.”

It turns out Lake Elsinore is no different than anywhere else.

Shigetoshi Hasegawa, scheduled to be the Angels’ fourth starter, threw 6 2/3 solid innings before he was hit in the left shin on a soft one-hopper back to the mound. Hasegawa left with a bruised left knee but he is scheduled to make his next start, Monday against Cal State Fullerton.

“It got him on the fat part of the leg,” Collins said. “He’s OK.”

Hasegawa gave up two hits, both home runs, and three runs. He struck out five and walked one. In the first inning, he allowed a two-run homer over the 380-foot sign in left field to first baseman Dan Buxbaum, who played in Lake Elsinore last year and is slated to play in Midland this season.

In the third, Hasegawa served up a long home run to former Angel George Arias, who will play in Vancouver this season.

Collins has been impressed with Hasegawa.

“He pitched fine,” Collins said. “He made two bad pitches. When he makes them, they’re usually in the middle of the plate because he’s got such great control. I like his command. He changes speeds well. He does a lot of things well.”

The Angels, who started their regular lineup except for catcher Jim Leyritz, were not at their best on the base paths Wednesday night. They had three players picked off, Darin Erstad, Tim Salmon and Luis Alicea. Dave Hollins had a three-run homer and a double and Gary DiSarcina had a two-run homer in the Angels’ 6-3 victory.

Troy Percival pitched the ninth and allowed one hit with one strikeout.
