FRESHWATER

17. CASTAIC LAKE--Largemouth bass active in both reservoirs. Guide Gary Harrison, a 15-pounder and a 12-pounder, on Optimum Swimbait and crawdad. Troy Folkestad, Orange, 13-pound 14-ounce bass, Optimum Swimbait at 23 feet. Jim Allen, Canoga Park, 13-2 bass, on crawdad in lower lake. J.D. Dorsey, Valencia, 12-12 bass, on six-pound test, a potential line-class world record. Biggest fish, a 27-pound carp by Jay Dancer, Pacoima, on corn at 15 feet in lower lake.

18. LAKE PIRU--Largemouth bass action best at Cow Cove and north end. Dark plastic worms and Pig-n-Jigs getting most. Trout action fair for trollers using Needlefish and Rapalas at dam. Some limits. Crappie bite fair.

19. PYRAMID LAKE--Largemouth and smallmouth bass very active in shallows, biting on night crawlers, plastic worms and crankbaits. A few stripers caught near dam on bloodworms and anchovies. Native trout reported caught at Yellow Bar on green Power Bait.

20. LAKE CACHUMA--Trout bite fair, with an occasional lunker landed. Jeremy Hawkins, Buellton, 6-6 trout, on spinner at Cachuma Bay. Largemouth bass in shallows, but bite is only fair, with spinnerbaits getting most.

21. LAKE CASITAS--Uwe Nill, Montrose, 12-8 bass, on crawdad. Doc Holliday, Walnut, 10-8 bass, on crawdad. Richard Fry, Ventura, 10-8 bass, on night crawler. Laverne Cleland, Thousand Oaks, 10-pound bass. Red-ear perch activity picking up, with night crawlers getting most. Carthal Soccia, Santa Paula, 25 red-ears, on mini-jigs.

22. CORONA LAKE--Top trout 12-4 by Tom Ball, Culver City, on Power Bait from shore. Trout action slow, best at north end. Other species slow.

23. SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES--Sturgeon still creating a stir, with many coming up at more than 20 pounds. Largest 25-8 by Chuck Struckoff, La Mirada, on mackerel at Pump House. Top trout 14-2 by Dean Hansen, Fullerton, on mini-jig. Several trout over 10 pounds.

24. IRVINE LAKE--Lots of limits of trout and a few lunkers. Biggest fish 12-8 by Wendy Leung, Huntington Beach, on mini-jig at Sierra Cove. Catfish activity picking up, which is no surprise considering that more than 5,000 pounds of catfish were stocked Tuesday. Catfish bite fair to good.

25. LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE--Trout action steady, with most fish weighing one-three pounds but some as heavy as 10. Largemouth bass biting on dark plastics, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and night crawlers. Some catfish.

26. LAKE SKINNER--Striped bass bite has picked back up, with fish caught at south shore, east end and Ramp 2. Largest 25 pounds by Brian Smith of Riverside. Trout-like plugs getting the bigger fish. Crappie action steady off Points and along south shore. Albert and Ruben Sanchez, Pomona, crappie stringer totaling 24 pounds, largest two pounds, on Banjo Minnows off marina area point. Night crawlers, spinnerbaits and plastic worms getting some largemouth bass. Some catfish.

27. LAKE PERRIS--Bass bite still hot, but fewer big fish, with average size three pounds. Don Nelson, Riverside, 9-2 bass, on crawdad at island. Bluegill action picking up. Mealworms getting most off marina rocks.

28. SAN DIEGO CITY LAKES--El Capitan, Hodges and San Vicente still producing steady bass catches. But largest was a 17-4 caught at Miramar. El Capitan also yielding excellent crappie catches. Miramar fair and Murray and San Vicente fair for trout.

29. LAKE CUYAMACA--Quick limits of pan-sized trout common. Most lures and baits working.

2. MORRO BAY (Virg’s Landing)--35 anglers (2 boats): 21 calico bass, 26 red rock cod, 50 rock cod, 200 rockfish, 15 salmon. (Bob’s Sportfishing)--4 anglers (1 boat): 13 salmon.

4. SANTA BARBARA (Sea Landing)--43 anglers (2 boats): 136 calico bass, 3 sand bass, 1 halibut, 11 sculpin, 12 barracuda, 1 whitefish, 8 rockfish, 51 perch, 3 sheephead.

5. VENTURA--11 anglers (1 boat): 1 calico bass, 7 sand bass, 1 halibut, 12 rockfish, 1 sculpin, 1 white sea bass, 1 ling cod, 3 salmon. (Harbor Village)--51 anglers (4 boats): 3 king salmon, 4 sand bass, 1 rockfish, 6 calico bass.

6. OXNARD (Cisco’s)--114 anglers (4 boats): 2 salmon, 34 calico bass, 3 halibut, 1 ling cod, 66 red snapper, 590 rockfish, 1 sand bass, 1 sculpin, 1 sheephead, 26 whitefish.

7. PORT HUENEME--43 anglers (3 boats): 1 king salmon, 225 rock cod, 2 ling cod, 34 rockfish, 1 calico bass, 2 halibut, 10 sand bass, 1 sculpin, 5 whitefish.

9. REDONDO BEACH--77 anglers (3 boats): 17 sand bass, 5 halibut, 7 sculpin, 55 whitefish, 135 mackerel.

10. SAN PEDRO (22nd St. Landing)--79 anglers (3 boats): 1 white sea bass, 32 calico bass, 1 halibut, 1 sand bass, 48 sculpin, 81 whitefish, 147 sheephead, 183 blue perch, 117 rockfish, 12 sargo, 14 opal eye.
