Firestone Appointed to Select Committees
Assemblyman Brooks Firestone (R-Los Olivos) has been appointed to five select committees by Assembly Speaker Cruz Bustamante (D-Fresno).
The committees serve primarily to educate members of the Legislature by holding informal meetings and researching specific issues. Typically, their findings are reported to the full Assembly.
Brooks’ appointments are to the select committees on California wine, coastal protection, education technology, horse racing and veterans affairs.
“Issues such as having sufficient environmental and coastal protections, and assuring that our students have access to the latest educational technologies are vital to the progress of this state,” Firestone said.
The committees will begin meeting in April and will hold periodic meetings through the end of the legislative session in 1998.
