Seniors Club Lauded in Council Resolution
The La Palma Seniors Club has been honored in a resolution by the City Council praising the group for its long record of volunteer work.
The City Council’s resolution says that the Seniors Club, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, provides “the only ongoing program in the city of La Palma for the benefit of this special age population.”
Mayor Kenneth Blake, in presenting the council’s commendation, said: “The service the seniors give us saves us a lot in finances and manpower.”
He added that the Seniors Club has volunteers in all city-sponsored projects and also works for the Police Department.
Emily Zechiel, club president, and former Mayor Duane Schuster, vice president, represented the seniors group at the council’s special presentation.
